HOW TO TAKE YOUR POWER BACK

You have the power and you’ve had it all along, you just didn’t know it, or you weren’t aware you were giving your power away to people.

In fact, “what does giving your power away even mean?”, you may wonder.

Here are a few examples:

  • You had a great day, having fun outside or with your friends, but then you get home and a family member complains about something you didn’t even do. You get upset and the rest of the evening is ruined.

  • You wake up feeling positive and you go about your day, but then a colleague makes a comment you find upsetting and this spoils your mood for the rest of the day.

  • You are in a good mood because you bought a new outfit, but someone criticizes your look and you start to feel insecure about it, you no longer feel confident wearing it.

If this happens to you, that means you are giving away your power to the people around you. You are putting someone else in charge of your own happiness, so what you have to do is take your power back.

You have been giving your power away to your boss, your partner, your friends, or your colleagues. You put them in charge of your happiness, your worthiness and you’ve looked for validation from the people around you.

When you allow other people to be in charge of your own happiness, you are allowing them to be in charge of your life also, and so you need to call back your power.

You always have a choice.

You can choose how you respond to a situation and you can choose who you surround yourself with.

You decide who to give your time and attention to.

But instead, you get upset with those people or you get angry at them. You make them wrong in your head because they did or said something that made you feel bad.

If you’re happy with who you are, and you don’t let anybody make you feel worthless or not accepted, then you are in your power.

If you find your own self-worth, if you fill yourself with self-love and self-compassion, then you become self-sufficient and that’s when you no longer need external validation.

You validate yourself!

That’s when you become emotionally bulletproof, no one can take your happiness away from you.

If you work on your core beliefs, then no one can steal your happiness anymore.

Nobody can steal yourself from yourself.

Once you feel strong within yourself, no one can come and steal that away from you, and they can do or say whatever they want. They can tell you that you’re selfish, they can project on you their own insecurities, but you won’t take that BS. It will wash off you, or you will even laugh it off.

What you need to do is learn to stay in your power, and don't get swayed by other people's opinions or criticism.

Then, people will no longer have power over you.

If you have decided that you want to feel in charge of your happiness and you are ready to make some changes in your life, I will run a workshop at Neal’s Yard in Bath on 4th May 2023 at 6pm about how to take your power back.
